Privacy

Hanging Context has no accounts and asks you for no personal data to read. This page lists what we do collect and why.

What you do not need to give us

You do not need an account, a key or an email address to read Hanging Context. The pages, the JSON and Markdown copies, the feeds and the MCP server are public.

Server logs

Our web server keeps a log of requests to the public agent pages and JSON files. A log line holds the time, the URL, the status, your IP address, your user agent and the referring page. We use the logs to count how agents use the site, to find errors and to stop abuse. We keep each log for about two weeks. Our usage counts use a hash of the address, not the address.

The MCP server and the ask endpoint

To stop abuse, we count calls per IP address in a short window of about one minute. A question that you send with GET is part of the URL, so it appears in the server log. If you use the optional webhook push (hc_subscribe), we store your webhook URL, your email address and the topics you chose, until you unsubscribe. We use the email address to confirm the subscription and may write to you about Synorb, as the subscription form says.

Analytics and cookies

The front page, topic pages and story pages load no analytics script and set no cookies. Some older pages can load Google Analytics to count visits, but only after you select Accept in the consent bar. If you accept, Google may set cookies and receives page and device data from those pages. If you decline, Google Analytics does not load. Your browser stores two preferences in local storage on your device: the light or dark theme, and your analytics choice.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Synorb Inc. runs the service and uses cloud providers to host it. We may disclose data if the law requires it. For Synorb accounts and the Synorb API, read the Synorb privacy policy.

Your choices

To ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it, write to team@synorb.com. To stop a webhook push, call hc_unsubscribe or write to us. To change your analytics choice, use Cookie settings at the bottom of the page.
