## What happened

SoundHound AI reported record third-quarter revenue of $62.4 million, up 48.5% from a year earlier, and said it closed its acquisition of LivePerson on September 4, 2026. The company identified $120 million in annualized cost synergies from the deal, with $80 million expected to take effect before January 1, 2027, and it expects 2026 revenue of $250 million to $260 million and 2027 revenue of $350 million to $400 million. [cites: 1793915069070233422, 1793912867529576936]

Innodata reported third-quarter revenue of $95.6 million, a 53% increase year over year, with $17.7 million of adjusted EBITDA and net income of $10.3 million. The company raised its full-year 2026 revenue growth guidance to 42% or more, signed a new program with its largest customer valued at about $18 million for the fourth quarter, and said it forecasts more than $20 million of revenue from a large hyperscaler customer in 2027. [cites: 1793914726032864409]

Serve Robotics reported third-quarter revenue of $2.8 million and raised its full-year guidance to $12 million, with recurring revenue at 69% of the quarter's total and 917 daily active robots in the field. Airship AI reported net revenue of $6.23 million at a 56.2% gross margin, a $28.3 million backlog of firm-fixed-price orders, and a validated pipeline of about $215 million, with opportunities tied to funded procurement efforts in the Department of Homeland Security. ## Growth with a different shape

What stands out is not just the growth but the shape of it. SoundHound still reported a GAAP net loss of $46.4 million for the quarter, and its plan is to fix that by changing what it sells: shifting from upfront license deals to hosted structures, exiting non-core and dilutive business lines, and counting on the LivePerson synergies to reach sustained adjusted EBITDA profitability in the second half of 2027. It held $207.6 million in cash at the end of September, which gives the plan time but not forever. [cites: 1793915069070233422, 1793912867529576936]

Innodata, by contrast, is already profitable on the measures it reports, and its guidance raise rests on named demand: the $18 million program with its largest customer, more than $20 million expected from a hyperscaler in 2027, a verbal win on a federal contract worth $5 million a year for five years, and a robotics pilot that could yield about $7 million in 2027 if it succeeds. The company held $164.0 million in cash at the end of September. The lesson for founders is that a guidance raise lands differently when it is attached to contracts rather than to a market trend. [cites: 1793914726032864409]

Serve and Airship show the same pattern at smaller scale. Serve entered 12 multi-year contract extensions with hospital customers in the quarter, added four new hospitals in the year to date, launched its first international city in Australia in October, and launched Serve Physical AI Services to sell its technology to other robot makers. Airship expects to launch the first release of its agentic AI software around the end of 2026 and aims to be cash-flow positive by the end of 2026. Both are selling durability — contracts, backlogs, and pipelines — rather than a single quarter's spike. [cites: 1793915523349859884, 1793887777144296826]

## What to watch

The test for all four is whether the second half of the story arrives. SoundHound's profitability target is set for the second half of 2027, Innodata's 42% growth guidance has to survive a year in which its largest customer matters more than ever, and Serve's $12 million full-year guidance depends on robots that must keep running every day. Airship's $215 million pipeline is validated, in the company's words, but a pipeline is not a backlog, and its backlog is $28.3 million. [cites: 1793915069070233422, 1793914726032864409]

There is also a product question underneath the numbers. SoundHound launched OASYS Edge to put voice AI agents on local device hardware and signed a deal with LG for a commerce channel across about 20 million smart TVs in the United States. That is a bet that voice AI earns its keep where people already are — in cars, on TVs, on devices — rather than in a chat window. If the hosted shift and the device push both work, SoundHound's quarter looks like a turning point; if either stalls, the $46.4 million quarterly loss is the number that matters. [cites: 1793915069070233422]

## What is still unresolved

- Whether SoundHound reaches sustained adjusted EBITDA profitability in the second half of 2027 as it expects.
- Whether Innodata's verbal federal contract win becomes a signed $5 million-a-year deal.
- Whether Airship AI converts its $215 million validated pipeline into backlog and becomes cash-flow positive by the end of 2026.

## Decision card

- **Useful for:** VCs sorting which AI revenue is real and repeatable; Founders benchmarking growth, margins, and guidance against listed peers
- **Not for:** Anyone wanting proof the whole AI sector is profitable — SoundHound still lost $46.4 million in the quarter
- **Compare against:** Shield AI raising $2.5 billion alongside its Echodyne deal; AI suppliers posting strong quarters in finance coverage
