## Key facts

- In Mexico, regulated digital banks contributed 1.8 percentage points to traditional bank deposit growth and 2.9 percentage points to consumer credit growth in August 2026, BBVA Research reports. [cites: 1793232323407973390]
- Bank of America has opened its first financial centres in Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and plans 19 across the state through 2030, the bank says. (self-reported) [cites: 1793200265423214848]
- SEI launched the SEI Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund solution integrating charitable giving into wealth, tax, estate and legacy planning, the company says. (self-reported) [cites: 1793207957547145013]
- More than 95 percent of Bank of America client interactions take place through its digital platform, yet clients made about 10 million appointments with specialists in financial centres over the past year, the bank says. (self-reported) [cites: 1793200265423214848]

## Mexico: growth from new banks

BBVA Research reports that bank deposits and outstanding credit to the non-financial private sector in Mexico accelerated in August 2026, and that the entry of digital banks did much of the work. Traditional bank deposits grew by 3.0 percent year on year in real terms, while consumer credit reached a real annual growth rate of 8.5 percent. [cites: 1793232323407973390]

The digital contribution is strikingly large relative to the totals. Regulated digital banks contributed 1.8 percentage points to the growth of traditional bank deposits in August 2026, BBVA reports, and 2.9 percentage points to the growth of consumer credit. In other words, new entrants are not just taking share at the margin; in this period they account for a substantial part of the growth itself. [cites: 1793232323407973390]

Business credit tells a more uneven story, with differentiated regional behaviour in the second quarter of 2026, and BBVA adds that AI capital expenditure is influencing business loan growth in Mexico. The pattern is familiar from other markets: consumer growth moves fast through new channels, while business lending follows regional and sectoral demand more slowly. [cites: 1793232323407973390]

## America: branches where there were none

Bank of America is expanding in the opposite direction, physically, and the bank says it has opened its first financial centres in Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The bank plans to open 19 financial centres across Wisconsin through 2030, creating nearly 130 new jobs in the state, and will open 10 centres in Birmingham, Alabama, starting in the first quarter of 2027, plus eight in Greater New Orleans in the second half of 2027. [cites: 1793200265423214848]

The expansion builds on more than 5 billion dollars invested in the financial centre network since 2016, the bank says, with approximately 50 new centres planned annually and a physical footprint reaching approximately 83 percent of the US population. That is a long, expensive commitment to physical presence from a bank whose own figures show more than 95 percent of client interactions take place through its digital platform. [cites: 1793200265423214848]

The bank's explanation, in its own account, is that physical centres serve complex needs that digital channels do not. Clients made approximately 10 million appointments with specialists in financial centres over the past year, the bank says, and it points to two AI tools in that work: Plan My Day, used by bankers and advisors to prepare for client meetings, and EricaAssist, a human-assisted generative AI agent used by more than 18,000 employees. The branch, in this telling, is not a transaction point but a place for advice that clients still book in person. [cites: 1793200265423214848]

## Wealth: a new service inside the platform

SEI offers a third version of the same strategy: grow by adding a service to an existing relationship rather than by finding a new customer. The company says it has launched the SEI Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund solution that integrates charitable giving into broader wealth, tax, estate and legacy planning, powered by TIFIN Give and sponsored by the GiveClear Foundation. [cites: 1793207957547145013]

The launch extends a partnership SEI and TIFIN Give announced earlier in 2026 to provide a white-labelled donor-advised fund solution to bank and wealth clients, following a strategic investment by SEI in TIFIN in 2024. SEI says it manages, advises or administers approximately 2 trillion dollars in assets as of September 30, 2026, and now offers two donor-advised funds, the SEI Charitable Fund and the SEI Fund. [cites: 1793207957547145013]

SEI says the fund is designed to foster multigenerational engagement through shared family conversations, which is a revealing framing: charitable giving is being sold as a way to keep the next generation inside the advisor relationship. This suggests the common thread across all three stories is distribution, not product. Whether the new channel is a digital bank, a new branch or a giving fund, growth is coming from reaching a customer in a place or a moment the firm did not previously occupy. [cites: 1793207957547145013]

## What is still unresolved

- Whether digital banks sustain their share of Mexican credit growth as they scale
- Whether new physical centres earn their cost as digital interaction keeps rising
- Whether charitable giving keeps younger family members with the same advisor

## Decision card

- **Useful for:** Comparing digital, physical and platform-led distribution strategies; Tracking where deposit and credit growth actually comes from
- **Not for:** Assuming one distribution model fits every market
- **Compare against:** Deposit and credit growth by channel, and branch appointment volumes

Every Manifest cited here can be read in full with your own Synorb Key. Check the claims before you rely on them.

1. **Get a Synorb Key.** Click Generate Free Agent Key at https://synorb.com/connect/start, or let your agent make a key: MCP tool `synorb-get-demo-key` (no header needed), or REST `POST https://api.synorb.com/api/connect/demo-key` with a JSON body such as `{"client":"your-agent-name"}`. The key is the `api_key` field of the answer. Save the key. The 72 Hour Agent Demo key needs no email. It lasts 72 hours and can pull up to 25 Manifests. It includes 5 Beacons; all of them are starter Beacons.
2. **Read each cited Manifest by id.** REST: `GET https://api.synorb.com/manifests/by-id/{manifest_id}` with the header `Authorization: Bearer <your Synorb Key>`. Ids are strings; do not parse them as numbers. The reply holds the source, the Signal (claims) and the Brief.
3. **Check the claim.** Match each sentence in the story to the claims in the Manifest it cites. The claim ids in the ledger point to them.
