## Key facts

- Advent International raised $30 billion across its global fund complex, including close to $27 billion for its 11th flagship fund, beating its $26 billion target, and over $3 billion for a new mid-market strategy. (self-reported) [cites: 1793096591407206487]
- Advent reports about $13 billion of realizations across 27 businesses in 2026, about $10 billion invested across 38 businesses year to date, and more than $109 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026. (self-reported) [cites: 1793096591407206487]
- Chiratae Ventures is leading a $10 million Series A for Quanfluence, a Bengaluru startup building a photonic quantum computer on a continuous-variable architecture with GKP-encoded qubits, most of which runs at room temperature with only one subsystem needing cooling via a 4K cryostat. (self-reported) [cites: 1793094515796426719]
- Norrsken VC joined the investor group for Tandem Health, which reached more than 10,000 care organisations across 14 European markets, following a previously announced $100 million Series B, and is building an AI-native Clinic Operating System. (self-reported) [cites: 1793082908250992301]
- Clinicians can spend up to 40% of their time on administrative tasks, while clinicians using Tandem report a 29% reduction in documentation time. (self-reported) [cites: 1793082908250992301]

## The big raise

Advent International has raised $30 billion across its global fund complex, according to the firm's announcement. The total comprises close to $27 billion for GPE XI, its 11th global private equity fund, surpassing its target of $26 billion, and over $3 billion for a new mid-market strategy, Advent Mid-Market Private Equity, following the strategy's launch in March 2026. [cites: 1793096591407206487]

The raise sits beside an active year on both sides of the ledger. Advent reports 2026 among its most active years for realizations to date, at approximately $13 billion across 27 businesses, with investments of approximately $10 billion across 38 new and existing businesses year to date. The firm says it oversees more than $109 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026, and has opened new offices in Sydney, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi since 2024. Realizations ahead of deployments, at this scale, read as a firm with room to choose rather than pressure to place. [cites: 1793096591407206487]

## The targeted bet: quantum

At the other end of the scale, Chiratae Ventures is leading a $10 million Series A for Quanfluence, a Bengaluru startup building what the firm describes as India's first photonic quantum computer. The company has a working lab in Bengaluru and is building a universal photonic quantum computer on a continuous-variable architecture with GKP-encoded qubits. The investment reflects a bet that photonic architectures offer a more viable path to scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing than current superconducting or trapped-ion methods, according to the firm's account. The technical case is about removing the hardest constraint. Most of a photonic machine runs at room temperature, Chiratae says, and in Quanfluence's design only one subsystem needs cooling, using a 4K cryostat rather than a dilution refrigerator. Superconducting qubits, by contrast, only behave quantum-mechanically at around 15 millikelvin, colder than outer space, and no superconducting platform has published a credible path to the millions of physical qubits that fault-tolerant computing will require, the firm argues. Trapped-ion systems face a different bottleneck: control apparatus grows in complexity faster than the qubit count. Photonic circuits are fabricated in existing silicon photonics foundries using standard semiconductor processes, and some of Quanfluence's photonic integrated circuits are already commercialised. [cites: 1793094515796426719]

## The follow-on: clinic software

Norrsken VC's move is a follow-on rather than a first bet. The firm says it is joining Tandem Health's investor group alongside LG Technology Ventures and T.Capital, the strategic investment arm of Deutsche Telekom, following Tandem's previously announced $100 million Series B. The funding will help accelerate Tandem's adoption across European healthcare and build out its AI-native Clinic Operating System. [cites: 1793082908250992301]

Tandem's scale is the reason a follow-on makes sense to its backers. The company has established offices in 14 European markets and reached more than 10,000 care organisations, counting Ramsay Santé, Humanitas and the NHS among its clients. The problem it sells against is administrative load: clinicians can spend up to 40% of their time on admin, while clinicians using Tandem report a 29% reduction in documentation time, alongside less administrative stress and greater presence with patients. The next step extends beyond the consultation to triage, scheduling and patient communications, and the firm frames its goal as returning one billion hours to European clinicians. ## What ties them together

Three different checks, one pattern: capital is being raised at the top, returned in the middle, and placed selectively at the edges. Advent's $30 billion complex, with realizations running ahead of deployments, suggests large firms are not short of money to put to work. The $10 million quantum round and the Tandem follow-on suggest the money going out is going to specific technical theses, photonic hardware that sidesteps deep cooling, and software that removes documented hours from clinicians, rather than to general exposure. This suggests the constraint in private markets right now is not the supply of capital but the supply of theses strong enough to absorb it, and the firms winning the argument are the ones that can point to a mechanism, a cost removed, or hours returned. ## What is still unresolved

- Whether Advent's mid-market strategy deploys at the pace its flagship has.
- Whether Quanfluence's photonic approach reaches fault tolerance faster than superconducting or trapped-ion rivals.
- Whether Tandem's documentation-time reduction holds as it expands into triage, scheduling and patient communications.
- Whether Advent's realization pace continues into the rest of 2026.

## Decision card

- **Useful for:** Tracking where large private capital is concentrating; Reading targeted technology bets against incumbent approaches; Comparing deployment pace with exit pace
- **Not for:** Reading a fund close as a return figure; Treating a Series A thesis as a proven technology
- **Compare against:** Advent's flagship fund against its new mid-market strategy; Realizations against new deployments in the same year; Photonic quantum against superconducting and trapped-ion approaches
