## Key facts

- Oracle integrated AI Vector Search into Oracle AI Database, enabling semantic search alongside existing business data with hybrid search and RAG support. (self-reported) [cites: 1792630385808143815]
- Oracle AI Data Platform now supports private, governed connectivity to Oracle Databases across cloud and hybrid environments, with a fully private workbench model in development. (self-reported) [cites: 1792653745346827060]
- Oracle launched the Service Execution Workspace in its 26D update, an agentic service application where AI-prepared resolutions require human review before customer use. (self-reported) [cites: 1792630385808271941]

## Search inside the database

Oracle's pitch for AI Vector Search starts from a simple observation: moving information into a separate search system creates additional copies, additional pipelines, and additional considerations for managing data access and security controls. The company's answer is AI Vector Search built into Oracle AI Database, so semantic search runs directly alongside existing business data. An embedding model converts text, images, audio, or other content into vectors; hybrid search combines meaning-based retrieval with exact-word search; and retrieval-augmented generation uses the results to ground large language model answers in current business information, which the company says can help reduce unsupported or inaccurate responses. [cites: 1792630385808143815]

The engineering details are aimed at database teams: an HNSW index keeps its search structure in memory for fast response times, while an IVF index organizes vectors into groups for collections too large for an entirely in-memory structure. The writeup also covers chunking guidance — smaller sections often improve relevance but can lose surrounding context. [cites: 1792630385808143815]

The practical pitch is consolidation: one database, one security model, one set of business rules governing both exact-match queries and semantic retrieval. Traditional search looks for matching words, values, or attributes; AI Vector Search adds meaning-based retrieval to the same engine, so applications can combine the two — for example, retrieving documents that are semantically relevant and then filtering by business attributes like region or date. For teams already running Oracle, that means RAG without standing up and securing a separate vector store. [cites: 1792630385808143815]

## Private AI workspaces

Oracle AI Data Platform now extends its secure, private connectivity paradigm to governed, high-performance access to Oracle Databases across cloud and hybrid environments. AIDP simplifies connectivity by natively integrating with the customer VCN's DNS resolver, supports SCAN proxy features for clustered environments like Exadata and RAC, and handles cross-region and cross-network communication via VCN peering and dynamic routing gateways. At present the platform still requires a publicly accessible default workspace endpoint for core service interoperability, but Oracle says it is evolving toward a fully private workbench model with workspaces attached to customer-managed private subnets. Teams should note the thin-versus-thick mode tradeoff: thin mode does not support Native Network Encryption or advanced sqlnet.ora policies, while thick mode backed by the Oracle Instant Client does. ## Agentic service, human-approved

The Service Execution Workspace, released in the 26D update, is Oracle's first step toward outcome-oriented, agentic service applications. Representatives see workload insights, priority service requests, and improvement opportunities on the landing page; they can investigate requests with Ask Oracle and validate AI-generated procedures against an Evidence Locker before submitting them for knowledge creation. AI-prepared resolutions require human review, acceptance, or modification before being used in customer communication, and the workspace respects existing service request access controls without creating new data access. Knowledge authoring, SLA management, and stuck-request management are explicitly not in this release. [cites: 1792630385808271941]

## What it means

This is my read, not a reported fact: Oracle's bet is that enterprises will not move data to AI — AI must come to the data, inside existing security perimeters. That is the conservative enterprise AI architecture, and its pitch is governance, not capability: no new data access, no separate search copies, human review on resolutions. For tech executives, the comparison to run is against the best-of-breed stack — separate vector databases, external AI platforms — on total cost of ownership and auditability, not just retrieval quality. [cites: 1792630385808143815, 1792630385808271941]

## What is still unresolved

- Whether in-database vector search matches standalone vector databases on scale and recall.
- When the fully private AIDP workbench model ships and what it costs.
- Whether the agentic service workspace measurably changes resolution times or just relabels the workflow.

## Decision card

- **Useful for:** Tech executives evaluating enterprise AI architectures; Oracle database shops planning AI features; CISOs reviewing AI data access
- **Not for:** Non-Oracle shops; Anyone seeking a buy/sell recommendation
- **Compare against:** Standalone vector databases; Hyperscaler AI platform offerings

## Run these Manifests yourself

Every Manifest cited here can be read in full with your own Synorb Key. Check the claims before you rely on them.

1. **Get a Synorb Key.** Click Generate Free Agent Key at https://synorb.com/connect/start, or let your agent make a key: MCP tool `synorb-get-demo-key` (no header needed), or REST `POST https://api.synorb.com/api/connect/demo-key` with a JSON body such as `{"client":"your-agent-name"}`. The key is the `api_key` field of the answer. Save the key. The 72 Hour Agent Demo key needs no email. It lasts 72 hours and can pull up to 25 Manifests. It includes 5 Beacons; 3 of them are starter Beacons.
2. **Read each cited Manifest by id.** REST: `GET https://api.synorb.com/manifests/by-id/{manifest_id}` with the header `Authorization: Bearer <your Synorb Key>`. Ids are strings; do not parse them as numbers. The reply holds the source, the Signal (claims) and the Brief.
3. **Check the claim.** Match each sentence in the story to the claims in the Manifest it cites. The claim ids in the ledger point to them.
