# Industrials Priced Through It: Dow's $11.3B Quarter, Honeywell's Raise, Hexcel's $750M Buyback

*Four industrial filings, one pattern: price gains and self-help are carrying earnings while the portfolio reshuffles underneath.*

## Key facts

- Dow reported Q3 net sales of $11.3 billion, up 13% year over year across all operating segments, with operating EBIT of $887 million, up $707 million year over year, the company says. (self-reported) [cites: 1792670226785921660]
- Honeywell reported Q3 sales of $5.0 billion with 7% organic growth, adjusted EPS of $2.27 (up 34%), and raised full-year sales guidance to $20.0-$20.1 billion and adjusted EPS guidance to $8.40-$8.45, the company says. (self-reported) [cites: 1792664893777420808]
- Element Solutions reported record Q3 net sales of $995 million and raised 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance to approximately $720 million, while confirming the mutual termination of its Solstice merger agreement on August 27, 2026, the company says. (self-reported) [cites: 1792625164376806026]
- Hexcel reported Q3 net sales of $496 million, up 8.8%, and increased its share repurchase authorization to $750 million while reaffirming 2026 guidance, the company says. (self-reported) [cites: 1792620695888209459]

## Dow's price-led quarter

Dow Inc. filed Q3 2026 results with net sales of $11.3 billion, up 13% year over year, reflecting increases in all operating segments. GAAP net income was $525 million and GAAP EPS was $0.62, with operating EPS of $0.71. Operating EBIT was $887 million, up $707 million year over year, a jump that says pricing power did more work than volume did. [cites: 1792670226785921660]

The segment detail is instructive. Packaging and Specialty Plastics, the largest business, posted $5.8 billion in net sales, up 18%. Industrial Intermediates and Infrastructure was $3.1 billion, up 8%, and Performance Materials and Coatings was $2.3 billion, also up 8%. Management said the company is on track to achieve the upsized $700 million in growth and productivity benefits in 2026 and targets roughly $2 billion of total transformation uplift by the end of next year. Debt is down about $600 million year to date. Reasoning: this is a self-help story wearing an earnings-print costume, and the costume fits because prices held. [cites: 1792670226785921660]

## Honeywell's first standalone quarter

Honeywell reported Q3 sales of $5.0 billion, up 1% reported but 7% organic, with adjusted EPS of $2.27, up 34%. Operating margin was 14.8%. It raised full-year sales guidance to $20.0 billion to $20.1 billion, adjusted EPS guidance to $8.40 to $8.45, and free cash flow expectations to about $2.1 billion. [cites: 1792664893777420808]

Not everything improved. Reported EPS fell 20% because the prior year included a one-time gain from the Resideo termination agreement. Process Automation and Technology segment margins contracted 210 basis points, which the company says was driven by project mix and dilution from the acquisition of Johnson Matthey's Catalyst Technologies business. A raise built on organic growth with a margin hole in one segment is exactly the kind of thing to check next quarter. [cites: 1792664893777420808]

## Element and Hexcel

Element Solutions reported record third quarter net sales of $995 million, with adjusted EBITDA of $191 million and GAAP net income of $66 million. The electronics segment did the heavy lifting: net sales up 68% to $780 million. The company raised 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance to approximately $720 million. It also formally confirmed the mutual termination of its merger agreement with Solstice, effective August 27, 2026. A terminated merger plus a guidance raise is a combination the market usually reads as the business outgrowing its deal. [cites: 1792625164376806026]

Hexcel reported Q3 net sales of $496 million, up 8.8%, with adjusted diluted EPS of $0.50 and gross margin of 23.3% against 21.9% last year. Commercial aerospace sales grew 20.5% to $330.3 million while Defense, Space and Other fell 8.7%. The board increased the share repurchase authorization to $750 million and the company reaffirmed 2026 guidance, expecting to return to its targeted leverage range by year end. Commercial aerospace is doing the work; defense is not. [cites: 1792620695888209459]

Taken together, the four filings share a structure worth naming. Dow cut about $600 million of debt while leaning on price; Honeywell expanded adjusted EPS 34% and raised the full-year bar in its first standalone quarter; Element Solutions walked away from its Solstice merger and then raised EBITDA guidance; Hexcel doubled its buyback authorization on aerospace demand. Reasoning: these are companies paying for their own transformations out of pricing and portfolio choices, not out of volume booms. For a banker reading covenants and free-cash profiles, that is a sturdier credit story than the headline growth numbers suggest. ## What is still unresolved

- How the Middle East conflict affects Dow's future Asia Pacific volume growth, per the filing's own caveat.
- Timing of Dow's remaining two European asset shutdowns.
- Whether Honeywell's Process Automation margin recovers after the Johnson Matthey dilution.

## Decision card

- **Useful for:** Industrial-sector investors sizing pricing power vs. volume; Bankers tracking self-help and deleveraging stories
- **Not for:** Growth-equity readers; these are cash-generative incumbents, not disruptors
- **Compare against:** Peer Q3 industrial prints and 2026 guidance trajectories
